Permanent Makeup FAQ's

What is permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup, also known as micropigmentation or PMU, is a cosmetic tattooing technique used to enhance features such as eyebrows, eyeliner, and lips. Using advanced methods and high-quality pigments, permanent makeup creates soft, natural-looking results that heal beautifully over time.

How Long Does It Take?

Appointment times vary depending on the service (brows, lips, etc.) and whether it's a new application or a touchup. Most services are between 1 and 2.5 hours.

How long does permanent makeup last?

Results from permanent makeup typically last between 1 to 3 years. Longevity depends on factors such as skin type, pigment selection, sun exposure, and aftercare. Oily skin and frequent exfoliation may lead to faster fading.

Does permanent makeup look natural?

When performed with precision and an artistic approach, permanent makeup can look incredibly natural. Julie Michaud specializes in soft, refined enhancements that complement your features rather than overpower them.

Does permanent makeup hurt?

Most clients experience minimal discomfort. A topical numbing agent is used to keep you comfortable throughout the procedure. Sensitivity can vary depending on the area being treated and individual tolerance.

Is permanent makeup safe?

Yes, permanent makeup is safe when performed by a trained and experienced professional. Julie follows strict hygiene protocols, uses high-quality pigments, and tailors each treatment to your skin type and medical history to ensure safe, predictable results.

When Will I See Results

Results are immediate. However, it takes a couple weeks for the pigment color to fully settle under the skin.

Is permanent makeup really permanent?

Permanent makeup is considered long-lasting, but not truly permanent. Over time, pigments naturally fade due to skin regeneration, sun exposure, and lifestyle factors. Most clients return for a refresh every 1–3 years to maintain their desired results.

What is the healing process like after permanent makeup?

The healing process typically takes 7–14 days for the surface of the skin, with full healing occurring over several weeks. During this time, the color may appear darker before softening into the final result. Proper aftercare is essential for optimal healing.

How many sessions are needed for permanent makeup?

Permanent makeup is usually completed in two sessions. The initial appointment creates the foundation, and a follow-up session (6–8 weeks later) refines the shape, color, and density once the skin has healed.

Who Is Permanent Makeup Ideal For?

Permanent makeup is ideal for individuals looking to enhance their natural features, simplify their daily routine, or restore definition lost due to hair loss or aging. A consultation is recommended to determine suitability based on your skin and goals.

How much does permanent makeup cost?

Permanent makeup pricing varies depending on the treatment area and level of customization. Julie Michaud’s work reflects advanced training, experience, and a highly personalized approach. A consultation can provide detailed pricing and treatment planning.

Can permanent makeup be corrected or removed?

Yes, permanent makeup can be adjusted, corrected, or lightened if needed. Julie offers solutions such as color correction and removal techniques to safely refine previous work.

What areas can be treated with permanent makeup?

Common permanent makeup services include:

- Eyebrows (microblading, shading, combination brows)

- Eyeliner (lash enhancement or defined liner)

- Lip blush (natural lip color enhancement)

Each treatment is customized to achieve balanced, natural-looking results.
